Cheshire Cat

"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"

"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.

Rocket Attacks

My cat Rocket got out a few weeks ago and while trying to wrangle him back in the house, bit up my hand when he got spooked by another cat. A trip to Urgent Care, a tetanus shot, and antibiotics later, it's just scarred up now, but man, it hurt so much!

Here's a dramatic re-inactment of Rocket during the attack that I photoshopped up a few days afterwards:

A Difference of Opinions

We have a hummingbird feeder outside our balcony, which Rocket and Inky LOVE to watch and "talk" to the hummingbirds that come by. I love it because, well, I love hummingbirds, but I think they love it for quite another reason altogether!!

Bonus drawing with a cat scan! Inky apparently is a mutant cat with 5 paws. The drawing is an Amazon, replete with the cut off breast... (thanks, Y the Last Man!)

Trouble #1 and Trouble #2

The kittens discovered both my My Little Pony collection and my fish tank all on the same day.
No good can come of this!

Two for One Kitten Drawings

Here is a drawing of Inky and an illustration of our lil' family road trip we took last week. We packed up the two boys (ok, three if you include Damon) and headed up to Sonoma for a week with Damon's mom and family. The kittens immediately took to "grandma's" house and had a blast on their mini-vacation!

My two boys

Rocket and Inky are finally getting along, and both are growing at a pretty good pace! It's so awesome having an armful of kittens!

New addition

So, two Saturdays ago, Girls Drawin Girls held a party over at the Doll Factory between Echo Park and Silverlake. Halfway through the party, I found Damon out by my car in the parking lot, trying to coax out a mewing kitten. Twenty minutes later, we had convinced the little kitten we were ok, and we had an instant friend.

Stray kitten was also quite a social butterfly, and quickly befriended everyone at the party. We ended up taking him home with us, where Rocket was QUITE displeased with the intrusion. We quarantined the little one, checked lost and found, and made the call that he was just a super friendly stray baby (esp by the way he eats- he is a TOTAL scrapper- we've found him in the garbage twice already).

We took him in to the vet last Monday, got him fixed up and all up to date on his shots and a clean bill of health. The vet estimated him to be around 13 weeks (3-4 months) and he is a total love bug and has a great attitude.

A week later, Rocket has accepted Inky into the house, and they are wrestling and playing like lil' brothers. Anyway, here are a few sketches from the past two weeks of kitten madness!

A Family Again!

The day after we got home, we went to go pick up our kitten from our friend who was ever so kindly looking after him! After two weeks away, we are a family again! : D

RIP Maia, sassy kitty

Last summer, Damon and I cat-sat for our friend Anne and watched her fat, sassy kitty named Maia. Sadly, yesterday, she passed away after much illness at the age of 14. I have a whole bunch of sketches of her, so to honor the sassiness of the "Eric Cartman of Cats," here are a bunch of drawings of Mai Mai.

Funny story- when I was over at Anne's and when I first met Maia, I had a snickerdoodle cookie in my hand about to eat it. Maia walked over, and she was all like cute cat "what's that?" and suddenly snatches the cookie with her mouth and walks away WITH THE WHOLE COOKIE. It was pretty hilarious.

This snickerdoodle is for you, Maia!
