A chic peek at Pencey’s Fall 2011 footwear collection

This best-dressed reader’s style is adorable retro (see: peter-pan collar, ladylike skirt) but the coolest part about her whole look is that she’s carrying a vintage suitcase. Chicest purse ever. Get the details on her outfit »

Time Machine by Quentin Jones

Mixing a selection from the Spring/summer 2011 collection and vintage archive pieces from the Museum of London, AnOther Magazine’s fashion editor Agata Belcen and filmmaker Quentin Jones, worked together on this beautiful ‘Time Machine‘ video where pieces were brought to life with surreal animation, including collage techniques using archive fabrics and key motifs referencing the print trend of s/s 11 collections.

Kate Spade Resort 2012

The ever-adventurous Kate Spade gal is off and running again for resort, and this time, according to creative director Deborah Lloyd, she’s evoking the “effortless chic” of the French channeled through an American studying the arts in Paris, i.e., a collegiate all-American sportswear combined with the classic style of Sixties French icons such as Juliette Greco and a young Catherine Deneuve.

From one temple to another. A Buddhist monk lies on his futon in his Tokyo pied-a-terre, surrounded by his Comme des Garcons collection. Once a month, religiously, the monk trades his robes for a head to toe Comme des Garcons outfit, leaves the temple and heads for Tokyo to pick up a few more pieces and visit his sanctuary. Strangely, he sees the designs as having a religious quality. His sister, a former delinquent, apparently reformed when she found Garcon.

Stella McCartney, RST12.

The recent Stella McCartney Resort collection for 2012 contains a vibrant mix of beautiful tailored details and vibrant holidays prints. Palm tree brooches adorn neat blazers, while long length dresses and oversize tops and skirts provide the perfect canvas for symmetrical hibiscus scenes, ocean prints, and bold beach chair stripes.

The two sides to the collection play off each other well - the archetypal holiday prints appear more grown up in the context of the elegant and modest shapes, and the tailoring is artfully cropped at the wrist and ankle to give it an air of nonchalance.

Calliope

Somebody left a suggestion to post Antigone, daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta from the incestuous Greek tragedy Oedipus. But, Oedipus was a little heavy for a Wednesday morning, wouldn’t you say? For those readers who haven’t hit Greek mythology in their required high school reading, just you wait—it’s awesome. As a compromise for this suggestion, I’m posting Calliope, one of the eight muses. She’s the muse of epic poetry and most famous for being the inspiration behind The Odyssey. Well, if you’re going to inspire some of the greatest stories of all time…you better have the style to back it up, can I get some Proenza up in here? Yes, yes I can.

1. Whatever, I’m hooking up with Ares

2. Homer, you should write a book about like, a guy, who like, can’t get home

3. Ugh, none of the other muses are on tumblr, they’re so 2000-and-late.

My oh my, I seem to be doing a lot of “fashion blogger hair push” in these photos. Whatever, let’s not focus on that obvious cliche and instead please turn your attention to the awesomeness of this shirt. I love a good backless shirt and am so excited to finally bust this one out, which I did for a recent lunch date with Jason. We ate at our favorite Lebanese restaurant, Sitti, and then spent a few minutes walking around different parts of downtown.

We saw the most beautiful church (below) that I had never really noticed before. The gates to the gardens of the church were locked. I tried to convince Jason that we should just hop the fence and go exploring, but in the end we decided that trespassing on church property is probably not a good idea. I hope you got that moral and pious decision down in your books, Big Guy!
