The corset reinvented!

Our motto at mylunakiss is that lingerie can be worn anywhere - undergarments as outerwear is bellissimo and a corset is so versatile that you can wear it from day to night to midnight. 

Many designers feature corsets as a staple in every collection!

Balmain Spring

Famous rock star fashion designer, Balmain featured the corset as fun and frilly or sleek and sophisticated for Spring paired with ripped jeans or tight leggins.  It seems the corset is more prominent in this decade than it was in the 80's - the main accessory for street fashion thanks to Madonna..Queen of the Corset.


Brief Corset History.

Some sources state that the original corset was created in the 16th century "payre of bodies" or called stays because it covered below the bust all the way to the hips ...but the first corset was worn by Cretan women between 3000 and 1500 BC.

 To think if I had to wear a corset everyday for my entire life it would be not be so sexy.  I am sure most women were happy when they were asked by the War Industries Board (WIB) during World War I to stop buying corsets because they were made of crinoline which was made of metal.

After reading the latest issue of Burlesque Magazine, we spotted these gorgeous images of burlesque performer Immodesty Blaize (promoting her new film). Of course we knew we had to share!
We first discovered Ms. Blaize when she modeled a few pieces from the Madame V catalog in 2007, and once you see someone as spectacular as she you don't forget!
Often referred to as the "the undisputed queen of British burlesque" you can find her performing internationally in luxurious and decadent costumes filled with crystals, feathers and dazzling jewels. And look at those corsets...what can we say but 'wow'! We can only imagine how much it costs to have a custom Swarovski crystal-covered corset made for you...but we're sure it's worth it. Something to add to our wish list!

Faire Frou Frou is proud to introduce the brand What Katie Did to its boutique. This very saucy UK label is inspired by the looks of the 40s and 50s, and even uses vintage patterns to create some of its latest pieces. No wonder the designs are so spot-on fantastic!
To start out, we have brought several of the corsets and waist-cinchers into our store. Our next phase will be to bring some of their amazing vintage-inspired lingerie to our customers.
