Carine Gilson - Spring 2011 Collection

A favorite look from the new season!
This look is also our favorite

We hope you are excited as we are to see the new Spring 2011 Carine Gilson collection!  Just when you think you have seen her best work, she blows us away with a fresh interpretation of her luxury intimates.  For instance, this season we see the addition of new shapes such as the satin romper and jumpsuit.  There's also the new flirty silk half slips (one of which looks like it can tied so that it can be worn as a wrap around the shoulders or around the waist). We have a feeling many of you will love the 1940s-inspired emerald green robe, which is certain to help you channel your inner Rita Hayworth (or Veronica Lake, who Carine has said is an inspiration of hers)!
We have posted 20 of our favorite looks here, but you can see the entire collection (all 48 images) on Carine Gilson's website.  We recently saw a limited number of styles from this season while shopping at Barney's (the Madison Ave. location), but unfortunately didn't see any of the more interesting loungewear pieces shown here (same case on Net-a-Porter).
For any of you traveling to Abu Dhabi or Moscow in March & April, Carine is hosting a trunk show with her new goodies!  Also, for those of you who don't quite have a Carine Gilson budget (= loads of money), she does offer a diffusion label called RITUEL (which simply translates to 'ritual').  Carine has done a diffusion line in the past (we recall seeing one about 3-4 years ago in Paris) but tends to be a bit more on the down-low about those collections.  In fact, she will not let stores carry both her diffusion line and couture line at the same time so as not to confuse customers about her branding.  The RITUEL line is pretty much a collection of Carine's basics (we recently saw their Fall 2011 catalog) and may be best-suited for the person who simply wants to wear a Carine Gilson label without the usual Carine Gilson price!

Carine Gilson & Atsuko Kudo for Lingerie New York 2010

The lingerie event of the year recently occurred when the Seven Bar Foundation hosted Lingerie New York 2010 at Cipriani 42nd Street.  The event, which raised $500,000 for philanthropic causes, featured the works of Carine Gilson and Atsuko Kudo in a spectacular runway show.  Carine Gilson was celebrating the 20th anniversary of her eponymous luxury lingerie label with her signature silk and lace designs.  She unveiled her latest collection that included a few shimmery ivory pieces that we are eager to see more of.  Also featured was the work of Japanese couture latex lingerie designer Atsuko Kudo.  Model Veronica Webb modeled the buzz-worthy Space Lace illuminated LED-light corset designed by Dara Young for the Hennessy Black Moment of the show.  Other models at the event included Elsa Benitez, Crystal Renn, and Liya Kebede.
We hear that perhaps the next Seven Bar lingerie/charity event will take place in Los Angeles, and we will certainly make sure to be in attendance!
If you are unfamiliar with the Seven Bar Foundation, it is a charitable organization that offers microfinancing to women in underprivileged countries.  You can learn more about their cause here.

Carine Gilson...We Will Take One of Each, Please

Twice a year we have the honor of sharing the latest collection from Carine Gilson, who is quite possibly the most skilled artisan in the lingerie world.  The fact that her clientele will pay $435 for a pair of PJ shorts or $1400 for a kimono robe is a good indication that we're not alone in our opinion of the designer.  In fact, the brand is going strong having just opened a stunning flagship boutique in Brussels (Belgium).
The Fall/Winter 2010 collection is filled with Carine Gilson's usual sophistication, as well as some gorgeous loungewear pieces that would work wonderfully as ready-to-wear.  The harem pants and kaftan are pieces we would purchase for ourselves (if we brought her latest collection to our boutique...perhaps next season we will!), and her robes are definitely lust-worthy as well (though we are proud to say we already own one...but it wouldn't hurt to have it in another color!).
We posted some of the more unique styles from the Fall collection in this post, but you can see the entire lookbook on Carine's website here.
