Has a Cantaloupe ever made you Cry?

I had some cantaloupe today and I ain't gonna lie, it was so sweet and delicious that it may have brought a little tear to my eye. Maybe I am just hormonal or just maybe it was that freakin good.

Hot damn! It went from winter to summer in 2 short weeks. Earlier today, we sat outside for a little dining alfresco.

I found a set of cute china plates and platter at the FIRC thrift store. They were 40 cents each.  They price to sell at the old FIRC. I love the floral cosmos pattern. And eating outside on china plates? HA! I can throw caution to the wind for that price. I am crazy like that.

Vegans, avert your eyes. You have been warned.

Steak salad is one of my top summer faves.

Ya'll  know how I have some serious Wal-Mart hate, but I did buy this Greek seasoning there. It is probably full of MSG, but it is yummy. I seasoned the steak with it.

As I mentioned before,  I have been working on a front porch makeover.  To that end, my sister-in-law and I went on a garage sale marathon yesterday and while I snaked her on a front porch rocker, she totally stole an iron umbrella stand that should have been mine.  You win some and you lose some. We loaded her SUV completely full and we only quit because we were out of cash and space.  Note to self: take a truck next weekend.

Finally, here is a sneek peak at my porch makeover.  We call our house the"tree house" because, well, it looks like a tree house.  So I made a sign to make it official. I don't think Martha is going to be offering me a job any time soon. But whateva, I think its kind of cute.

Cost = free. I love free.

Here is our view off the front porch area.

We see a lot of fun bird action. There is this one bird who sings, and I swear about this,  "Jackie-O, Jackie-O." It is so weird. JFK is that you?

Conversation overheard at our house today:

Matt:   What does your bird say?  "Joan Baez?"

Me:  WTF?  Are you not paying attention? It's "Jackie-O" and anyway, birds can't make a "B" sound.Well, maybe chickens can.

Later:

Me:    I really need to get the hummingbird feeders going and put some sugar water in there.

Matt:   Oh, please, they aren't coming around here. They know you are undependable. They will starve.

Me:  What? I am not looking for dependents. If they want to stop by for a snack every once in a while I am O.K. with that. But that's all I have to offer.

Hope you had a great weekend.

Yup, that's all I have to offer. A little watered down sugar my blogging friends. I will be back to my mean ways after my weekend high wears off. I promise.

I am linking to my favorite thrift party.
